In his State of the Nation Address the President urged all South Africans "to develop active lifestyles that will contribute to a healthier nation". The department is all about promoting an active lifestyle - of getting involved whether it is in sport, arts or in culture. We will assist the people of the Free State to not only participate in sport activities but to be proud of their history and culture and to make sure that their heritage stays protected for generations to come.

Thabong Dance Competition for the Disabled
The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation hosted the Dance Competition for people with disabilities on the 27th February 2010. The event was hosted under the auspices of Thabong Arts and Culture Centre in Thabong (Welkom).
