On May 18, 2012 the provincial Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation will celebrate International Museum Day as part of a national and international programme to enhance public awareness on the critical role that museums can play in preserving our inherent and diverse history while also developing society in general.

Multipurpose Sport Court and Community Gym Handover

The Department of Sport, Arts Culture and Recreation will officially hand over a Multi-purpose Sport Court to the community of Steynrus and a Community Gym to the community of Kutlwanong/Odendaalsrus. Read more

RE-OPENING OF THE CALEDON RIVER MUSEUM

The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation is pleased to announce the re-opening of the Caledon River Museum in Smithfield.

The museum which started operating in November 1983, hosts exhibitions which cover the era of the Anglo-Boer War and the Basotho Wars in the area as well as historical artifacts from that era. Read more
