Local Talent Development Centre

The Department in partnership with the Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality officially launched the Local Talent Development Centre and District High Performance Satellite on 5 February 2010 at the Charles Mopeli Stadium (Qwa Qwa).
This event culminated into the official opening ceremony of the 32 Schools Mini 2010 World Cup Tournament.
Launch of the Local Talent Development Centers
1. Thabo Mofutsanyana/ Maluti-a-Phofung
LTDC
The Local Talent Development Center (LTDC) was launched on the 5th February 2010. It was officially opened by the MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Honorable D. A. M Kgothule. Other honored guests included the MEC for Agriculture Me. M. Qabathe, Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. Moshoeshoe & the Acting Local Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. J Khumalo. The MEC and the honored guests jointly cut the ribbon to officially open the LTDC.

The LTDC will have the following facilities:
Fully equipped sport gymnasium
The services that are available at the LTDC are:
- Sport specific skill coaching
- Sport conditioning and strength training
- Athlete development and support
- Capacity building programme
- Team preparation programme
The following activities will take place at the LTDC:
- Daily training sessions with sport specific coaching sessions
- Daily sport conditioning sessions with sport trainer
- Exercise program consultations
- Training of local coaches on exercise prescription and exercise technique

2. Lejweleputswa/ Matjhabeng
The LTDC in Matjhabeng Local Municipality is going to be located at the Thabong Indoor Sport & Recreation Center within Thabong Welkom. Construction and alterations at the center commenced in November 2009. This is to accommodate the District High Performance Center and the Local Talent Development Center. Currently the time elapsed on the construction is at 75%, due to weather delays and other factors, the project is at 60% completion. The outstanding items however are minimal and the contractor will still finish on time. The buildings will be handed over in the middle of July 2010.
The services, activities and facilities that will be available are the same in all LTDCs.
3. Fezile Dabi/ Metsimaholo
The LTDC in Metsimaholo Local Municipality is going to be located at the Municipal show grounds in Sasolburg. Construction and alterations at the center commenced in November 2009. This is to accommodate the District High Performance Center and the Local Talent Development Center. Currently the time elapsed on the construction is at 80%, the project is 4 weeks behind schedule due to various normal construction delays. The contractor is confident that the outstanding items can be caught up in the coming weeks and only a two (2) week extension will be required. The buildings will be handed over at the end of July 2010.
The services, activities and facilities that will be available are the same in all LTDCs.
